You will learn all about the School's history and development, the philosophy and ethos; the broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum along with details of the School's structure, management, staffing, calendar of events and the extensive extracurricular activities.
Apart from academic quality, there is also a great deal of emphasis on aesthetic, physical and emotional development. Our approach is very much child-centred, in an environment that is conducive to learning. Our school premises provide a delightful setting in which children have the freedom and tranquility to flourish and grow in their learning, personality and self-confidence and which also gives them the space and independence to develop their very own special talents and achievements.
We consistently promote the South Coast Academy 'family feeling' as well as the importance of friendship, respect, trust and values. Every new child that registers is immediately extended a warm and sincere welcome. We encourage and promote a strong and positive partnership with parents, who are always welcome to actively participate in their child's education.
We welcome your interest in our School and look forward to maintaining communication with you, whether you’re a prospective new parent, a potential new teacher or an ex-pupil.

General information relating to the school.

123South Coast Academy is a small, international, private school in a peaceful and rural setting, next to a farm. There is a welcoming and intimate atmosphere that is both supportive and encouraging. The School was established in 2007 as an international Primary School that delivers a broad, balanced curriculum adapted to meet the needs of the school’s international community in Diani on the South Coast. The position of SCA on the mainland eliminates the need for young children to undergo the long, arduous and often dangerous journey to Mombasa and back each day and, in particular, avoids the very unreliable ferry crossing to Mombasa island.
SCA hosts children of many different nationalities and enjoys a delightful teaching and learning environment. Because of our small enrolment the school is able to maintain an atmosphere where a strong family-feeling exists. We also consider it a privilege to be situated next to a farm where the children can observe farm animals and husbandry and learn about crops and rotation.

At SCA we recognise that children are unique in their backgrounds, skills, interests and experiences; advance at different rates and possess varied learning styles. These distinctive differences underscore the necessity of a flexible educational approach so that each child has the opportunity to succeed.

South Coast Academy is a non-denominational, non-profit making establishment and we are very proud of our achievements during our short history. SCA strives to keep a good relationship with families and we recognize that our greatest strengths are the dedication of the teaching staff, parental involvement and the individual attention that we are able to give the children as a result of our small classes.
We hope this website conveys the school's unique personality and welcoming atmosphere and we strongly recommend a personal visit to South Coast Academy to experience the school for yourself. We hope you will find it a happy community where young people are nourished in every way. This school offers all that the British educational system requires alongside which stands a respect for every individual of every nationality, faith and culture.
The school was initiated by a group of Diani parents and established by the Director, Mr. Vonza Mwendwe in 2007. South Coast Academy was officially opened on 6th June 2008 by the Honourable Charles Njonjo, former Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya.
